Ten years ago, I searched everywhere for debating opportunities in Marrakech: clubs, programs, anything. I found nothing.
For a while, I thought that was just the price of growing up here. Eventually I stopped waiting and built what I couldn't find.
My name is Othmane Fatnassi. I'm a 5th-year medical student and the founder of Eloquium, and yes, I know that combination raises eyebrows.
Medicine taught me something coaching programs generally miss: you diagnose before you prescribe. Before you can help someone communicate better, you need to understand exactly where they're breaking down.
In 2023, I founded the Public Speaking Club at my faculty and led it for two years as founding president. Hundreds of members and multiple national titles later, it showed me what was possible when you actually take things seriously.
But a faculty club has limits. So in 2024, I built something with no ceiling.
Eloquium is for the ones who understand that thinking clearly and speaking powerfully is a rare edge, and that like any edge worth having, it takes real work to develop.

What is World Schools Debating (WSD)?
World Schools Debating is a format that combines prepared motions with impromptu rounds, meaning students walk in having researched some topics and face others completely cold. It is the dominant format used in post-secondary competitions across Morocco and in schools internationally.
Is it alright if I lack experience in public speaking or debating?
Completely. Eloquium camps are designed around the participants in the room. Whatever your starting point, you'll be challenged at your level and pushed beyond it.
Who is Eloquium for?
Eloquium is for high school and university students who are serious about becoming sharper thinkers and stronger communicators.
What kind of topics do you debate?
Highly diverse topics, from the commercialization of art to international sports recruitment, with room for lighter motions too.
Where do you run your programs?
Marrakech, for now.
What's the process to join?
You fill out the application form, Eloquium reaches out via WhatsApp or call, walks you through the logistics, and sets up a short preselection online Google Meet with one of our coaches.
You mention limited spots. How true is that?
Eloquium caps every camp at 15 participants and has students coming in from across Morocco.
